Dr. Jimmy R. Allen

Dr. Jimmy R. Allen is author of the book, Burden of a Secret : A Story of Truth and Mercy in the Face of AIDS. This book has had a profound impact as it depicts the story of his family's experience in confronting AIDS. Members of his family founded both the first daycare center for AIDS children (Bryan's House in Dallas) and the AIDS Interfaith organization which now covers the nation. Since retiring as president of the Southern Baptist Radio Television Commission, Dr. Allen has served on several boards, agencies and is widely acclaimed as a speaker and preacher. Dr. Allen is chaplain and senior minister of the chapel at Big Canoe, a residential and resort community in north Georgia. Dr. Allen and his wife, Wanda, have three sons: Mike of San Antonio, Skip of Dallas, and Scott of Sydney, Australia.
