J. Ellsworth Kalas

J. Ellsworth Kalas is a native of Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin, with a major in literature, and with a number of awards in leadership and public address. He then received a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University, where he received both the Trustees Award for Scholarship and the Kidder Preaching Prize. After that, Dr. Kalas pursued graduate study in American history at the University of Wisconsin for a year, then studied for a year at Harvard University. He has received honorary doctorates from Lawrence University and from Asbury Theological Seminary for his outstanding work as a pastor and a community leader.
